I am a General Practitioner with a demonstrated history of working in the health care industry. Skilled in clinical informatics, systems engineering, primary care healthcare information technology (HIT) and clinical safety.

I am a qualified clinical safety officer and have a specialist interest in clinical safety and information governance. I have experience of both the DCB0129, DCB0160 and other clinical safety and risk management processes. I am currently a Clinical Safety Consultant and clinical safety officer within the Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire ICB.

I also have a working and academic background in computer systems with a PhD in Computer Science.

• Clinical safety officer advisory services for aspects of clinical safety including assurance against obligations under DCB0129/DCB0160 and NHS Digital Clinical Safety standards.
• Provide clinical advice to new projects and adoption of digital solutions in primary care.

Primary Care Informatician National Services Scotland (NSS) (April 2024 - Present)
I am part of the Primary Care Data and Intelligence platform team and primary care informatics team. As part of these teams I contribute to initiatives that leverage healthcare data to improve primary care services across Scotland.

Clinical Digital Lead BOB ICB (March 2022 - Present)
Provide clinical safety, oversight and advice to wider ICB regarding GPIT issues in primary care.

• Support the development of clinical safety assurance for digital projects introduced across the place and in alignment with the system.
• Provide clinical advice to new projects and adoption of digital solutions in primary care across the place and the system.

Health Informatics Group Deputy Chair and Joint GPIT Committee Deputy chair RCGP (Jan 2022 - Present)
As deputy Chair of the Health Informatics group I represent the RCGP on various aspects of Health Informatics related to:

• Providing a co-ordinated joint approach to general practice stakeholder representation in information management and communications technology projects within the NHS (jointly with the BMA).
• Considering the development of information management and technology in NHS general practice across the UK
• Considering training and change management issues in the provision of quality information within primary care and its interface with the rest of the health service
• Offering support and guidance to general practice on IM&T, information governance, data proteciion and general clinical informatics
  
  

Advisory Group for Data Specialist Member and Co-Deputy Chair NHS England (Dec 2020 - April 2024)
Act as an independent specialist member considering requests for access/dissemination of NHS data and also advising on other areas of data protection and assurance for release of data by NHS Digital.

GMC Associate (Dec 2019 - April 2024)
Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board examiner.

• Responsible for examining a station on the PLAB exam circuit.
• Occasionally act as invigilator for the exam accross multiple circuits assisting the chief examiner.
